I went shopping. BIG time. I bought countless props including 4 chairs, lots of Easter goodies, headband stuff, cute pillows, a table, stuffed animals, (and the list continues). I'll admit that I also splurged on 3 Summer dresses for myself to add to the 500 I already own. (I can't help it! It's an addiction!)
I also couldn't help but to fall in love with these two frames while I was shopping. Little miss Grace was my very first client about two years ago and Sue and Jake are one of my most memorable wedding couples ever. I love these clients dearly!<3
Here is one of my favorite shots from the weekend:

Today is not easy. Mourning. Remembrance. Grief. Love. Learning.
We are mourning for loss of friends.  The halls of my high school have never been so silent.  Literally, not a word was spoken as we walked to our first period classes.  It was one of the most unbelievable and yet startling things I have ever experienced.
We are remembering our friends. Looking back on time spent together. Memorizing their voices, smiles, the sound of their laughs.  We are trying to encode them into memory in a way that they will never be forgotten. Although, in the backs of our minds, we know that it is humanly impossible to remember every single detail.
We are grieving. Together.
We are loving the times that we spent with our friends. We are loving our living friends and family a little extra and taking the time to send some extra love to our other lost loved ones.
Most of all, we are learning.  Learning that life is sometimes grievously cut short. That we are not invincible. That always driving safe is so vastly paramount. And that sometimes, God's plan overrules our own.
Today, I am hugging my friends and family extra tight and making sure I don't leave one thing left unsaid.
And I am sending much love to heaven for those lost then and for those lost now.

In honor of my Adorable Adoptables project that I am beginning tomorrow (SUPER EXCITED), I thought I would post this cute photo of Kyle's lab named Autumn- love her! I've had my camera with me this entire weekend  (if I had time to share 2,000 shots, I would). Anyway on to my real sessions: two very special little girls turned one recently!
This first group of photos are of my ADORABLE little cousin, Jayci. I can't believe she is one already!  She gets cuter and cuter every day, I swear.  From her huge scrunchy smile, to her dark curly hair, she is one of the most photogenic babies I have ever seen! Oh, and of course I just had to do a then and now just for fun;) She was my very first newborn session, by the way.  She was photographed in the hospital when she was barely even a day old<3
Here she is then:

And here she is now:

As you can see, Jayci was very very very unsure about her cake. As soon as she put her fingers in the frosting, she would not stop screaming and crying! Jayci was the complete opposite from miss Mya, though. Sweet Mya has been an adorable client of mine for about 6 months now, and it is so fun watching her grow!
Here is her then (6 mos):

I told you Mya was the opposite;) She LOVEDDD her cake and her little "sugar shakes" were adorable<3

And now, a special thanks to Kyle's Grandma and Grandpa for graciously allowing me to shoot in their backyard, thanks to my amazing piano teacher, Susan Marion, for allowing me to shoot in her backyard, and thanks to Lish for buying me some cute new props! I love you all!:)<3

:) I have a permanent smile on my face because this photo of BEAUTIFUL Emyrson Rose won me the highest honor at the State Art Competition. It went to Districts along with 12,000 other pieces from 1,112 other high schools. Only 300 pieces could be crowned state qualifiers. I am still in shock that I won first place. I feel so blessed to say that my artwork will be hanging in the State Capitol Building for the Governor's Show. Check it out April 10-May 12♥♥♥

I just can't get enough of the teeny hands and feet! It's safe to say that newborns are my absolute favorite subjects. Here are a few shots of a sweet little one I had in the studio this afternoon.

I knew for sure that when I first met this couple that God couldn't have made a better pair. I feel so blessed to have had the wonderful experience of being a part of their big day. May the joy in the years ahead be as great as the love in your hearts today.
(And for those of you that were wondering, I have yet to photograph a wedding in which I can keep dry eyes. I'm just a helpless and hopeless romantic;P)

There is always so much raw emotion all wrapped up in one day! I am so glad I was able to capture Sue reading the letter that Jake had wrote to her for this day.

The first dance was so beautiful and touching! I love both of these views!

I couldn't resist sneaking in this adorable photo of my boyfriend's mom and stepdad dancing. Deb and Casey thought they could escape me from hiding in the middle of the dance floor... they were wrong;)

I've done a lot of thinking this week. A lot of thinking. Thoughts of colleges, future plans, and careers. While one of my clients was feeding her newborn, she started chatting with me about my plans after high school. She was so shocked when I told her that I was planning on leaving Tiffin (and most likely Ohio) for college and possibly the rest of my life.  It really does make me sad to think about leaving my clients since I see so many of them on a regular basis, but it forces me to start thinking about what is best for me.
Believe it or not, I don't want to be doing portraiture for a living.  Well, of course I'll never stop portraiture, but I'm starting to think about commercial photography. I want to see my work in magazines:) Mrs. Humphrey says she will be very disappointed if in 5 years, I haven't expanded my horizons and found my other "art talents" and interests. Although the thought of it is scary, I couldn't agree more. After all, we are all on our own paths exploring what makes our hearts flutter, and refining what we ourselves do best.
